About Our Association
The Canadian International Sportfishing Association sits under CIPS, the governing body of sport fishing globally. Under CIPS we find a growing number of disciplines that Canada can become active in. It is our goal to bring a Team Canada onto as many international stages as we can.
Our Mission
Our Mission is to deliver competitive, representitive angling teams to competitions world wide on behalf of all Canadian anglers.
Our Directorship
Our board of directors includes some of Canada’s legendary anglers; all working to bring Canada’s best foot forward on the international stage.
Disciplines in Development
CISA began in early 2018 with the introduction of teams for two major international events. We are currently growing our discipline list each year.
Your Team Canada
Team Canada is represented in a growing number or events. Each year we will be keeping an active field of teams out there at Pan American and World Championships.
The Future of Angling is Here and Canada is Heavily Involved
The angling world is in flux and with it old and new organizations are awakening to make an exciting future. CIPS (The International Sport Fishing Confederation) is the global governing body, operating out of Rome. Under it are 3 major sport federations: the International Fresh Water Sport Fishing Federation (FIPS-ed), the International Fly Sport Fishing Federation (FIPS-Mouche), the International Sea Sport Fishing Federation (FIPS-M). The International Casting Sport Fishing Federation (ICSF) is associated member of the CIPS.
The Canadian International Sportfishing Association sits as Canada’s governing body in this international structure. We are one of 148 national federations under CIPS and are eligible to compete in World Championships, The Sport Fishing Games, Eurpean and PanAmerican Championships and more.
